17th Day with Yong Qi

Yesterday, we brought Yong Qi to the pediatric and relieved to know that her jaundice level has dropped to 151 from 159. Though it is not a big drop but Yong Qi doesn't need to prick her heel again for the blood test.

Yong Qi has gained weight as well. From 2.75 kg to 3.09kg . Do hope the jaundice will not attack Yong Qi again

16th Day with Yong Qi

Yong Qi is sleeping soundly while I'm writing this. She's such a darling; after her feed she will take her nap without much fuss. However, we were quite worried about her jaundice which has not been stabilized. Today, Yong Qi seems to be quite yellowish, we are worried that her jaundice level has shoot up again. We are trying to bring forward the jaundice test tomorrow instead of Friday and pray that report shows everything is OK.

Dear God, please be with us!

15th Day with Yong Qi

2 days after discharged from hospital, Yong Qi is getting better from her milk intake and not so cranky as before. At times, she will open her eyes and look around following the sound and what I like the most; she will smile at you after meal.

14th Day with Yong Qi

After 4 days in hospital, Yong Qi jaundice level has dropped from 317 to 153 and can be discharged. It is indeed good news for me as I longing to bring Yong Qi home. Also I look forward for Zoe to start bonding with her little sister.

Zoe is mature at her age, she understands that the little baby will always cry and most of the time due to hunger. Therefore whenever Yong Qi cried, the big sister will run to her and console the little sister by patting her leg.

Attending to both the angels is a challenge especially to ensure no hard feeling on Zoe’s part. So far so good, of course from time to time there are some grudges from Zoe but it's manageable.

5th Day with Yong Qi

It’s really stressful breastfeeding this Baby. Yong Qi doesn’t seem to latch and with her small, it’s another problem for her to latch on. Yong Qi did try to latch on for 15 minutes but end up crying in frustration for 11/2 hours. She has been under the UV lights and it has been 3 hours since her last feed.

I have no choice but to engage lactation consultant, though it costed a few hundred dollars for 2-3 sessions. With the lactation consultation, Yong Qi does have a few quality latches and able to have some milk.

4th Day with Ying Qi

Baby Yong Qi is still under jaundice treatment. Since she has been diagnosed with G6PD, her jaundice level has been between 300 -320. Doctor has informed the earliest to discharge would be Thursday. I’m lonely in my room so I often peeped my Baby in the nursery.

3rd Day with Yong Qi.

This morning, Dr Eric, Yong Qi's paediatrician came and informed us that Baby Yong Qi has jaundice so we have to stay in the hospital for a day or two.

Just a minute ago, hubby and I visited our Baby in the nursery. She was under the UV light. She’s such a darling but looked tired. Hopefully we can bring Baby home soon.

2nd Day with Yong Qi.

As we have not decided on the Christian name, we are calling her Baby Yong Qi. I woke up quite early to breastfeed Yong Qi. Compare to Zoe, Yong Qi needs more support in breastfeeding as she has some difficulties in latching. She seemed to have a smaller mouth and can’t latch on for long. Hopefully, Yong Qi could learn soon as I can't bear my baby to go hungry.

My bundle of joy

I woke up early today to prepare myself for the Caesarean section. We reached hospital at 7am. I was nervous already but still try to get some breakfast as I need to fast before the section.

At 2pm, I was pushed to the Operation Room, getting ready for the Caesarean section. Nervous and excited, we were overwhelmed for the arrival of our 2nd baby. I'm sure hubby felt the same even though he was emotionless. I have no complained on hubby as he was by my side for the arrival of both girls.

At 2.47pm, Kwah Yong Qi arrived at this world weighing 3.04kg scoring 8 for apgar score. She was then send to the nursery accompanied by hubby.

Unfortunately, Dr Premitha has to mend my keloids; therefore it took longer time before I could feed my baby. You can imagine how hungry the baby is at that time. After feeding, I was so exhausted so hubby sends Yong Qi back to the nursery. Good night,  Baby.
